12/4/11 Meeting - Honest & Fair

This was our second meeting. It has only been a week since our last meeting because I was hurrying to get that first one in before the end of October. Now we're going on the first and third Friday of the month schedule going forward.

This week I did much better with remembering the girls names. I scribbled down their names on a diagram with the room setup in my notebook so I could refer to that when I was talking to them. I tried to say their names outloud to help myself and the other girls hear each others names.

We started out with a coloring sheet of a Daisy. It was interesting to see all the different coloring variations each girl used to color their picture. Once everyone was there and the girls were mostly finished coloring, we put the crayons away and recited the Girl Scout promise together. I showed them the 3 finger hand sign for it as well.

I then opened my Daisy Handbook and read them the story for our first petal "Honest and Fair". The story was cute and the girls enjoyed the pictures and followed along well. At the end I asked them the questions from the book and we discussed the story. I also explained why we're learning about these to earn our patches.

The next activity was to make bracelets. We discussed if it was fair if I gave one girl a handful of beads and only 2 beads to another girl. And how that would make both of them feel. The bracelets also represented the Daisy flower with each of the colors from the petals.

For snack time the girl that supplied the snack passed it out and picked a helper to pass out the juice boxes. When they were finishing snack, I moved the tables out of the way and we played musical chairs. Again, I reinforced playing honest and fair.
